Description

Mediation is a collaborative conflict resolution mechanism that enables parties in conflicts with the aid of a neutral to reach a mutually acceptable resolution. The focus is on understanding perspectives, identifying interests and facilitating a constructive negotiation in a confidential, timely and cost-efficient manner. This requires specialized skills to enable conflicting parties to: 

– Gain clarity about their situation including an understanding of interests and needs -Understand the perspective of the opposite party 

– Reality testing as well as understanding alternatives – Generate and evaluate creative options 

– Support the parties to engage in a constructive negotiation and finding a mutually acceptable solution.
