Powerful Questioning is a myth. Fortunately, it has been deleted from the revised ICF competency framework, leaving Active Listening as the only competency under the category of Communication, instead of the earlier three. Powerful Questions arise from powerful, active, empathetic, observant and generative listening. Mastering listening, using frameworks of Carl Rogers and Otto Scharmer, is the most effective way in creating coaching presence, leading to humble inquiry that evokes awareness.
