Description

Host Will Kollmeyer welcomes listeners to the twenty-ninth edition of the TigerTalk podcast with the college's outgoing athletic director Kent Farris as Farris discusses the success of the Tiger and Lady Tiger athletic programs during the 2017-18 academic year. Farris touches on football, men and women's basketball, cheerleading, baseball and softball and highlights the success that each program has brought to the college. With his announced retirement, Farris looks back on his years at Northeast as a coach and then athletic director and talks about the upcoming selection of the college's Sports Hall of Fame class. Apple Distinguished Educator and technology specialist Jeffrey Powell stops by the podcast studios for a look at the tenth anniversary of the Mobile Learning Conference and discusses how the conference has changed -- the conference has been around longer than the iPad. Powell gives insight into the keynote for the conference -- Rebecca Stockley, who is known as The Improv Lady and who has served as a consultant to Lucasfilms and PIXAR animation studios. Title IX coordinator, recruiter and career development academy project manager Beth Benson wraps up our twenty-ninth podcast by telling listeners about the CDA and all its plans such as six camps during the summer including a health and wellness camp, a career exploration camp, a STEM camp, a Tiger Tech camp, a reading and theatre camp and finally an art camp to wrap up the summer. Northeast's Career Development Academy is aimed at students 12-18 and will be expanding its presence in the fall into Union and Alcorn counties. Alas, this podcast marks the first time that Kenny Paul Geno does not give us his weekly spotlight of what is coming up at Northeast.
