In this fifty-eighth (58th) edition of the TigerTalk podcast presented by Northeast Mississippi Community College, host Will Kollmeyer welcomes psychology instructor Emily Pollard to the podcast to spotlight one of the unique aspects that Northeast offers its students -- the Tiger DEN, a food pantry to help fight off food scarcity and food hunger amongst the Northeast students. Pollard gives insight into how the Tiger DEN works, how students go about registering for assistance from the DEN and how pickups and request work. In addition to spotlighting the Tiger DEN, Pollard also talks about how instruction has changed with the college's 1:1 iPad initiative and how she incorporates technology in the classroom to help save the Northeast money. In the second half of the show, Chief of Police Randy Baxter stops in to help inform the public about everything that the Northeast Mississippi Community College Police Department does -- not just from its sworn duties -- but also how it assists the public to make the Northeast experience better for faculty, staff and students. Baxter and his force go up and beyond the call of duty to help stranded motorists and even perform welfare checks when a student does not check in. Kollmeyer wraps up the podcast with a new addition to the publication -- an extended version of what is coming up on campus that details events happening on and around the Northeast campus in a daily breakdown.
