In episode 124 of the TigerTalk podcast presented by Northeast Mississippi Community College, host Will Kollmeyer welcomes Northeast president, Dr. Ricky G. Ford, to the podcast as Kollmeyer and Ford sit down to discuss what is happening at the college. In this week's update, Dr. Ford updates listeners about two big awards that Northeast received from the Institutes of Higher Learning (IHL) in Mississippi concerning transfer grade point average and also how many of the college's transfers receive bachelor's or other higher education degrees after completing time at Northeast. In addition to the two honors, Ford talks about how the college is distributing the CARES Act monies -- one for Workforce/Economic Development and Career and Technical Education and a second for instruction inside the classroom. Ford also talks about football season opening first for the high school ranks on this Friday (August 28) as Booneville hosts a pre-season scrimmage and then the regular season begins next Friday night at Tiger Stadium. Ford also mentions the start of the MACCC football season in October and how the college has prepared itself to complete the entire season. Ford addresses the need for people to understand what quarantine and self-isolation are and how a person can distance themselves from large parties and gatherings to help lower the COVID number.
