Description

In episode 142 of the TigerTalk podcast presented by Northeast Mississippi Community College, host Will Kollmeyer welcomes Northeast president, Dr. Ricky G. Ford, to the podcast as Kollmeyer and Ford sit down to discuss a variety of topics that are happening at the college. Ford discusses the recent weather and the impact it had on the college. With the recent ice and snow, some water pipes burst on campus including some at the new $8.4 million Baseball/Softball facility, so the college has been busy remedying the problems caused by the ice and snow. Ford gives credit to the facilities and maintenance staff, law enforcement, Sodexo, and everyone who came to campus in the ice and snow to make sure the students were safe and were able to continue their educational experience. Ford credited Northeast's faculty with being able to go online so quickly due to the weather thanks to their use of technology. In other news, Ford talks about the increased efforts on Recruitment and Orientation while discussing Spring Break and an in-person Graduation. In legislative news, Ford talks about the enrollment numbers for the state with community colleges seeing 2-21% decreases in enrollment throughout the state and what that means for appropriated funds from the state.
