Since Oregon Football got a commitment from 5-star QB Dante Moore, all focus on the recruiting front has mostly turned to the trenches. Earlier this year the Ducks beat out USC for 5-star OL Josh Conerly Jr., but this time the Trojans got a verbal commitment from 2023 OL Micah Banuelos after he had been trending for the Ducks. With 4-star DL Terrance Green set to commit on Monday, all eyes are on the offensive/defensive line groups as the next big targets for Dan Lanning and his staff.
On today's episode of Locked On Ducks, Spencer McLaughlin is joined by John Garcia Jr., director of recruiting for Sports Illustrated. John talks about some of the OL targets the Ducks should go after now that Banuelos isn't in the cards: 4-star Miles McVay and 5-star Samson Okunlola. Especially when it comes to Okunlola, a longer recruiting timeline should favor the Ducks' chances to land a commitment.
The defensive line has a plethora of blue-chip prospects that the Ducks have in their sights in the 2023 class as well. 5-star EDGE players Matayo Uiagalelei and Samuel M'Pemba would be welcome commitments for Oregon, as would the top DL recruit in 2023 David Hicks. Those commitments aren't imminent, but John says that the Ducks remain in the running for each of those 5-star defensive linemen.
