Hope-Full: God is Still Faithful
2 Peter 3
We can be HOPEFUL because God is FAITHFUL.
When it comes to the promise of Christ’s return:
1. Remember God’s TRACK RECORD.
“But they deliberately forget that long ago by God’s word the heavens came into being and the earth was formed out of water and by water. By these waters also the world of that time was deluged and destroyed.” (vv. 5-6)
2. Remember God’s RELATION to TIME.
“With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.” (v. 8)
3. Remember God’s ULTIMATE DESIRE.
“…he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” (v. 9)
“Bear in mind that our Lord’s patience means salvation…” (v. 15)
Takeaway: Live HOLY and GODLY lives. (v. 11)
“You ought to live holy and godly livesas you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming.” (vv. 11-12)
