Minor Prophets, Major Message: Joel

“The Day of the LORD” is the major theme in Joel. (1:15; 2:1, 11, 31; 3:14)
Joel’s major message to God’s people in light of this Day:
1. RETURN to God. (2:12, 13)
“Yet even now,” declares the LORD, “return to me with all your heart… Return to the LORD your God…” Joel 2:12, 13 (ESV)
2. REND your heart. (2:13)
“Rend your heart and not your garments.” Joel 2:13 (NIV)
3. Trust in God’s power to RESTORE. (2:25, 26)
“I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten… You shall eat in plenty and be satisfied, and praise the name of the LORD your God, who has dealt wondrously with you.” Joel 2:25, 26 (ESV)
