Restore: Effective Preaching
Acts 2:14-41
“For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe.”
1 Corinthians 1:21 (NIV)
4 Characteristics of Effective Preaching:
1. RELEVANT (vv. 14-21)
2. SCRIPTURAL (vv. 17-21, 25-28, 34-35)
“Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction.” 2 Timothy 4:2 (NIV)
3. CHRIST-CENTERED (vv. 22-36)
“Woe to me if I do not preach the gospel!” 1 Corinthians 9:16 (NIV)
4. PERSUASIVE (vv. 37-41)
Takeaway:
·REPENT and be BAPTIZED!
·Go and PREACH!
How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” Romans 10:14-15 (NIV)
