Acts 1:8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

Acts 2:1-13

Holy Spirit and spiritual gifts (3 basic views):

• Continuationism
• Cessationism 
• Cessationism + Occasional Outpouring

Hebrews 2:3-4 …gifts distributed according to His will.

John 3:8 The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.”

Holy Spirit gives POWER for all time and all believers.

• To Comfort, Convict, & Guide (John 14:16; 16:8-13)
• To Change Our Life (1 Corinthians 6:9-11)
• To Produce Fruit In Our Lives (Gal 5:22-23)

1. The occasion needed the power of the holy spirit.

1. The Apostles created the environment for the Holy Spirit.

• They were PEOPLE of PRAYER. (Acts 2:42)
• They stayed TOGETHER. (Acts 2:1)
• They OBEYED the commands of Jesus. (Acts 1:8)

1. Some will not react favorably to the Holy Spirit.

We are not react for the response; we are required to be faithful.

Takeaways:

• Pray for ONE, TOGETHER, every day at 2:42 p.m. (Ephesians 4:30-32)
• Read and meditate on the book of Acts.
• Fast one day every week.
• Rely on the POWER of the Holy Spirit.
