Jackson State sports legend and Hall of Famer, Roy Curry, joins Tiger Talk With The 1400 Klub!

Curry, who quarterbacked some absolutely loaded JSU football teams that collectively featured as many as 16 future NFL players, talked about playing in the SWAC during a time when the top black high school athletes flocked to HBCU’s.

He also touched on playing for the legendary coach & College Hall of Famer, Big John Merrit... playing basketball at JSU for Russell Wilson’s grandfather, Coach Harrison Wilson,... and his role in getting James “Big Daddy” Carson to JSU.

After converting to wide receiver in the NFL for the Pittsburg Steelers, a question was recently posed in the media regarding whether or not he could’ve been the NFL’s first black quarterback. Hear his thoughts on that as well!
