The Golden Knights will have a handful of expiring contracts to deal with at the end of the upcoming season. Conn Smythe winner Jonathan Marchessault leads the list as his six-year contract will end next year. Does VGK begin negotiations now? How much of a raise would Marchessault want? He currently makes $5-million a season and could ask for as much as $6-7 million a year in his next deal. We accounted for the projected $4-million bump in the salary cap next season, so VGK will have some flexibility to pay Marchessault on perhaps a two-year deal. He has been consistent and has scored 158 goals with VGK. Chandler Stephenson deserves a raise. He is currently making $2.75-million. He had 65 points this past season and was an NHL All-Star. William Carrier is third on our list of players VGK should probably sign early. He makes $1.4-million and is another key piece for the Golden Knights. We talk about VGK's Paul Cotter playing in a summer hockey league in Michigan. Cotter was a key contributor for VGK last season. He played in 48 more games than his rookie campaign, despite missing a month with injuries. Misha Donskov had the Stanley Cup Tuesday. We are tracking the Cup. And, the Golden Knights are nominated for two ESPY Awards, Best Team and Best NHL Player - Marchessault. We are hoping the Cup shows up in L.A. tonight for the ESPYs.
