The August Wilson Center has a lot of exciting events coming up!

Director of Education and Community Engagement at the August Wilson African American Cultural Center, Cathryn Calhoun, discusses the many different events and programs the Center has to offer to the community.

She talks about their recent collaboration with The Acting Company, a national-touring theater company, that is producing an August Wilson play called Two Trains Running. A couple members of the company will be in Pittsburgh at the August Wilson Center to engage in a theater workshop with 40 students from the Pittsburgh area. Students will be able to learn about August Wilson's plays, and physically engage with the text.

She also talks about the Center's own education programs that go into schools and talk about August Wilson. One program offers the students the chance to create their own superhero! She also invites members of the community to join the center on March 15th for Black in Bloom Community Day! This is part their series of community days that happen 4 times a year. Lots of hands on activities, live music, and much more to discover.

Cathryn hopes people continue to visit the August Wilson African American Cultural Center and engage with their exhibit about August Wilson's life. There are so many wonderful things the Center does for the Pittsburgh community!

The Acting Company workshop will be on February 21st, and you can get more information about the company at https://theactingcompany.org/.
