Dean of the Mary Pappert School of Music at Duquesne University, David Allen Wehr, stopped by to talk about The Dean's List concert series at the school. He talks with Jim Cunningham live on the WQED-FM morning show about the second concert, Strike Up the Band, on October 21st at 7:30 pm, with a pre-concert talk with James Gourley at 7:00 pm.
David talks about how this concert got put together, after he and James wanted to perform an arrangement of Rhapsody in Blue for Piano and Band together again. David also plays two pieces by Joe Utterback in our studio: An arrangement of the African American Spiritual Deep River, and a tribute to Scott Joplin, Doctor Joe's Long-Fingered Rag Time Special.
