In this episode, afternoon host Anna Singer is joined live with two dancers from the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, Madeline Gradle and Andre Gallon. They discuss a behind-the-scenes look at their upcoming production of Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet.
Madeline and Andre also both discuss their professional backgrounds, from early ballet beginnings to the intense physical regimen of professional dancers. Madeline talks about her childhood, and seeing shows at the Kennedy Center. Andre discusses his path from Jacksonville, FL to Pittsburgh.
Both also talk about the challenges of brining this iconic tale to life, and working with a live orchestra under the direction of Maestro Charles Barker. The choreography brings together a blend of classical and contemporary styles, making this rendition a must see.
You can see Madeline and Andre in PBT's production of Romeo and Juliet from Friday, February 14th to Sunday, February 16th.
