When you humans are chasing their greatest desire, Union with God, "the rules" are simply the starting point that those making the spiritual journey to God use as a boundary to start their journey. And as the desire for God becomes stronger and stronger the person seeking God's grace does not "break the rules" because it keeps them from their greatest desire.
