Poverty fetishism and glorification of hardship or "savagery" are very common amongst fight fans, especially when it comes to fighters from the former Soviet bloc — for example figures such as Khabib Nurmagomedov or Petr Yan. Above all, this phenomenon is emblematic of a worldview commonly promoted in the collective consciousness of the wolrd's populace primarily because it benefits the status quo established by the ruling elites.
