The hit film short 'Feeling Through' is the first film to feature a deaf/blind actor in a lead role. It’s now been shortlisted for a 2021 Academy Award for Best Live Action Short Film.
The film is based on a true story that writer/director Doug Roland experienced in his own life a few years ago. It’s a coming of age story that follows Tereek, a teen wandering the streets of New York, desperate for a place to crash when he encounters Artie, a deaf/blind man in need of help getting home. The film is directed and written by Doug Roland with Oscar-winning and Golden Globe-winning actress Marlee Matlin as executive producer. Feeling Through stars Robert Tarango, the first deaf/blind actor to star in the leading role of a film. Steven Prescod co-stars Steven Prescod as ‘Tareek’.
