Description

“I suppose I want to move beyond the point of staff, being nervous and feeling they can't say stuff because they're frightened, they're not going to say the right stuff, we got to get beyond that and just start to be honest about where, where we're uncomfortable, and start to confront the uncomfortable so that we can move into a different place.”

In this episode Angie talks to Dave Baker, CEO of the Olympus Academy Trust, a family of 9 schools working together within a multi-academy trust to provide the best possible educational experience and outcomes for young people in the Bristol area.

They discuss the influence of Dave’s childhood in a busy vicarage on his leadership style, and his approach to addressing diversity, equity and inclusion within his organization. Dave highlights the particular challenges that the geography and population that his Trust serves creates, and how he deals with those challenges in the glare of social and broadcast media.
