Today instead of talking about Balsamiq Mockups (the product), I would like to tell you a bit more about Balsamiq (the company). My friend Peldi started it back in 2008 as a solo founder: totally bootstrapped, doing everything himself. The product was immediately successful and Peldi was forced to hire people and grow the company. In the 8 years since, Balsamiq has become the undisputed leader in their space and also a very inspiring company to follow. They still haven’t taken any outside investment, and have 21 employees now, all geographically distributed.
