Breaking down the way too early depth chart predictions for the Texas Longhorns. Starting with the skill positions. Who are the favorites at quarterback with Sam Ehlinger leaving for the NFL, is Casey Thompson or Hudson Card more in prime position to take over for Steve Sarkisian? Running back, WR (H), and WR (Z) seem to pretty cut and dry. Two positions that might be a little murkier are tight end and WR (X). Who could be in play?
Segment No. 2 is all about the big boys up front. Samuel Cosmi is gone, so where do they turn for the new blindside blocker? Andrej Karic is the name to watch, he played 106 snaps in 2020 with most coming in the final two games. He didn't give up a single sack. Junior Angilau at left guard and Denzel Okafor seem like locks. Jake Majors, much like Karic, took a step forward as the center where Kerstetter was moved back out to tackle. At right tackle, it could come down to Derek Kerstetter vs Christian Jones. Money says that it is Kerstetter who wins that battle.
The final segment of the show is about the new defense under Pete Kwiatkowski. He likes to run the 2-4-5 that looks like the 4-2-5. Who could be the outside pass rushers in this scheme? The interior seems a lot easier to peg with Keondre Coburn and Alfred Collins. Plus we look at inside linebackers, who could play the rover safety position and the starters in the secondary.
