Description

Todays guest is Lucas Blankenhorn. Lucas is a 23 year old gay man and is a Southern California native who moved away to study Theatrical Arts in Boston. Lucas has since moved back and is pursuing a career in theatre production. In this episode Lucas really dives into his childhood and some of the early memories he has that made him question his sexual orientation. He also talks about his religious mother and the role she played in his coming out process.

A few things Lucas said that we want to highlight:

On Acceptance: “I do remember praying to god to take it away from me, I was like why am I like this I don’t want to be like this”

On Mom: “at first she was like ‘i just don’t want you to be one of those gay guys that dresses like a girl’ Now she housed one of my trans friends for the holidays because her parents kicked her out”

Advice: “I think everyone finds a chosen family. No matter where you are theses a place where you can find someone or something”
