Arizona Cardinals were very competitive for a large portion of the 2023 NFL season regardless of the players on the field at any given time. Without Kyler Murray for a large portion of the season, Cardinals offensive coordinator Drew Petzing ran an offense that was boring, long-winded, and effective. The Cardinals had a well-below average roster on both sides of the ball in 2023. The Cardinals offense kept them relevant. Sure, they only won 4 games but were in 80% of the games down the stretch. Why? They ran the ball effectively. When Kyler Murray came back, they were at the top of the NFL in rushing yards per game and showed the proof of concept necessary to roll into 2024 when they had a healthy and talent-infused roster. Now, with Kyler Murray fully healthy, James Conner elongating his prime as an NFL RB, Trey Benson drafted out of Florida State, and Marvin Harrison Jr and Trey McBride handling the pass-catching room, the Arizona Cardinals are ready to hit the 2024 season by storm. All that being said, they’re still going to be a run first team. Also, respect must be put on the names of both James Conner and Budda Baker. People who think that they both may not be Arizona Cardinals after 2024 are not seeing the big picture. Let’s discuss.
