Staying motivated and focused in 2021 is proving to be a challenge for a lot of people whose working schedules have had to change due to covid-19 restrictions. Thankfully, I have devised a list of 5 things that you can be doing to maintain motivation in 2021 and beyond!
Focus On The Outcome.
- If you're losing steam already, remember to focus on the outcome.
- What is the big thing you want to achieve with all of this?
- From there, you can break down yearly, monthly and weekly goals to work towards your big outcome!
- What is more important to you, staying in your current job or moving towards freedom or whatever it is you are looking for?
- To help you commit, write a 'Badass Statement' - " I am committed to making £30,000 a month" for example.
Block It Out And Get Away.
- Say you wanted to write a book. All you need to do is take 1 hour each day to write 1 page for your book, that's not asking a lot. But, in 365 days you will have a 365-page book!
- A little bit of work each day will build up over time to something much greater than completing the task at hand.
- And to ensure your focus even further, get out of the house or your office. Go to a coffee shop or hotel lobby and dedicate your hour to productive work.
Do 5 Things Every Day And Score Them With The 3, 2, 1 System.
- Write a list of 5 things that you want to get done in a day and then score them either 3, 2, or 1.
- 3 = It's vital to your progress and it must be done.
- 2 = It's important but not a top priority.
- 1 = Not as important, could be pushed until tomorrow.
- This way you are 'cutting the crap' on what actually needs to get done and prevents wasting time on the less important tasks.
- Another tip, take Sunday each week to brain dump all of your ideas of tasks for the week.
Why? Why Are You Doing This?
- Really understanding why you are doing something is the exact thing that is going to motivate you to keep going at it.
- If you wake up at 6 am knowing that you need to get your first two work blocks done at 6:15 am and you're tired, stub your toe etc. It will seem like a bad day at the time!
- But if you can remember why you doing that work, maybe your kids, your family whatever it is. Think about that and it can help fuel the fire inside of you and keep at it.
Brainwash Yourself!
- Surround yourself with positive information, success books & business podcasts. All the things that maybe motivated you to start your journey in the first place?
- Forget about keeping up to date with all the bad news in the newspapers.
- You want to be filling your head with positive information instead, as that will lead to you having more positive thoughts and come up with better ideas!
- Create an environment that is better for you and helps you thrive.
Those are 5 things that you can be doing right now, to increase productivity by staying focused and maintaining motivation towards the work you are doing.
