As soon as Carolina’s Orange Bowl ended, the hype for 2021 started in earnest. Even in the rainy winter months, the anticipation and expectation level is reaching an all-time high in Chapel Hill. The offense lost big playmakers, but with Sam Howell still in Chapel Hill, that side of the ball will be productive - perhaps elite again. But for Carolina’s program to take the next step under Mack Brown, it will be Jay Bateman’s defense that will need to improve the most. IC’s Ross Martin and Buck Sanders chatted down with Carolina’s third-year defensive coordinator to talk talent, depth and expectations heading in to spring ball.
