Robert Jay Mathews was an average American boy when his family moved from Marfa, Tx to Phoenix, AZ in 1957. A product of his times, beset on all sides with fear mongering from both the media and the government. At age 11 he discovered the John Birch Society and plunged headlong into a new world.
