Among many titles that Weeze holds, she is an anti-racism educator, a podcast host, an advocate for change, and calls herself a compassionate provocateur. She’s both kind and direct, informed and aware, and lives her life full of intention.
One of the hardest decisions Weeze had to make was getting a divorce. She realized that in order to make the marriage work, she had to play small. She explains that this was no fault on his part, but really made Weeze herself dig deep and think about what it was she needed in this life, and forced her to really analyze the social conditioning they both brought into the marriage.
She had to start asking herself the really dig-deep kinds of questions. What version of her life path did she want to venture down? What did her soul need? What were the next steps necessary to decolonize and start leading others in doing the same? What had to happen in order for Weeze to start living her most authentic self and guiding others to do the same?
Rebuilding her life required her to deconstruct and then reconstruct identities. She needed to start giving herself permission to say NO. In this episode, Weeze shares some really thought provoking perspectives on decisions she’s had to make and consider while having melanated skin. Her life experiences, knowledge, and ability to bring heavy subjects to the surface of everyday conversations make Weeze an absolute force.
