Joel Klein Resigns, Cathie Black Named New NYC Schools Chancellor

A leading public servant quits Mayor Michael Bloomberg's Administration to work in media, and a well-known media executive takes his place. Mayor Bloomberg has named Heart Magazine Chairman Cathie Black the new chancellor of the city's schools. She replaces Joel Klein, who became the longest-serving chancellor in the city's history. Klein, a former federal prosecutor, is leaving city government to become an executive vice president at News Corporation.
