In this CrossOver PostCast Special, Locked On Sports Philadelphia’s Marc Farzetta and Locked On Sports Los Angeles’ Pete Fox react to the Phillies 4-3 win over the Dodgers Wednesday night.
Though game two was no where near the Phillies 10-1 blow out that game one turned out to be, the Phillies never lost control of this game and never trailed.
Kyle Schwarber grabbed the Phils a 1-0 lead in the first with a leadoff home run, his 18 homer of the season and that was the biggest hit of the ball game for the Phillies. Their three other runs all came on groundouts or infield singles.
The difference in the game was the 5th inning. With the score tied at 2, Whit Merrifield led off the inning with what appeared to be a routine fly ball, but Dodgers center fielder Andy Pages couldn’t locate the ball in the sky and allowed it to drop. Merrifield ended up with a leadoff triple. Then with two outs, Trea Turner hit a ball up the middle that shortstop Miguel Rojas just couldn’t come up with, and Turner would record an RBI infield single bringing in Merrifield from third. Bryson Stott came up later in the inning with another RBI infield single to give the Phillies a 4-2 edge.
Cristopher Sanchez started for the Phillies going 6ip allowing just 2 runs. He picked up his 7th win of the season to improve to 7-4 on the year.
