The Philadelphia Phillies lost to the Marlins, 3-2 Saturday afternoon as the offense couldn’t muster up enough offense to support a solid outing by Aaron Nola!
Nola allowed just one run over 6.2ip, but similar to his teammate Zack Wheeler on Thursday, Nola JUST couldn’t get that final out in the 7th.
The Phillies lead 2-1 going into the 7th, but Nola surrendered a 2-out double to Otto Lopez then another double to Nick Fortes that brough Lopez in for the game tying run. Fortes double came on a 3-2 sinker that caught all of the plate and he put in down the line into left field. It was Nola 100th and final pitch of the night. Matt Strahm came on in relief and threw back-to-back fastball to Jazz Chisholm, the second of which Chisholm smacked into center field for an RBI single that proved to be the difference in the ball game.
The Phillies’ offense game little run support for the second-straight game. After just two runs Friday, the Phils plated 2 again. This time on just 5 hits. Garrett Stubbs hit a solo homer in the 3rd fo the Phils first run of the game, then Alec Bohm hit an RBI saf fly to left field to give the Phillies a 2-1 edge in the 5th.
