Description

The Philadelphia Phillies lost to the Washington Nationals 6-3 are now locked into the 2-seed in the National League. The game marked the second straight game the Phillies’ offense struggled.  

Zack Wheeler made his final start of the regular season and the Phillies offense did him no favors.Wheels tossed 6.1 innings and struck out 11 Nationals with his only blemish being a 2-run homer he allowed to James Wood in the 6th inning. The home run was just one of 3 hits Wheeler gave up in the game.  

Trea Turner hit a 2-run homer in the 8th to tie things up and take Wheeler off the hook, but then Jeff Hoffman gave up a 4-run bottom of the 8th inning.  

The Phillies got one more run in the 9th when Nick Castellanos led off the inning with a triple and then scored on an Alec Bohm ground out.
