The Philadelphia Phillies beat the Milwaukee Brewers 3-1 in Rhys Hoskins’ return to South Philadelphia! Hoskins received a very warm standing ovation in his return to Citizens Bank park and would go 1-for-2 with a walk and a solo home run off Zach Wheeler.
Wheeler was his typical dominant self as he tossed 7 innings of one run baseball in route to his 7th win of the season. In the third inning Wheeler and the Phillies found themselves in a bases loaded jam with nobody out. But Wheeler was able to get Bryce Turang to hit a grounder right back to the pitchers’ mound that the Gold Glove pitcher fielded, who then turned it into a 1-2-3 Double Play. Wheeler would then strike out William Contreras to end the inning.
Phillies offense was provided by, who else, the end of the bench and a guy playing in his first big league game in over 14 in months. Edmundo Sosa got the scoring started with an RBI single in the second inning followed by an RBI single by Johan Rojas. Then in the 4th inning recently called up Philly David Dahl who started in left field tonight hit a solo home run to give the Phillies a three nothing lead.
