In this week’s episode we are going to talk about how to downsize your home. If you are thinking of retiring, moving, or just need a smaller house we are here to help you figure out the pros and cons of downsizing. Having a plan in place is a great way to start. Waiting until the last minute can have a ton of issues that don’t allow a lot of options. There are great questions to start asking yourself like, where do you want to live, or move out of state? How much space do you need, and are you looking for single level living? How much space or storage do you need? Also how much money and time do you want to invest in this process? The biggest pro we see when our clients are downsizing is that now you have a smaller home to take care of! Which means less cleaning and less maintenance! You could also have a smaller mortgage or property taxes which will give you more money in your pocket every month. It is important to consider HOA fees, if you move into a condo. You will have to get your house ready to market, be knowledgeable about real estate fees, homeowners insurance, property taxes, and what furniture and items you are bringing with you. There are so many resources out there to help you downsize your home and we go over some options to look into.
