Description

The size of whales varies greatly depending on the species! They range from tiny to truly enormous, with the smallest being only 8.5 feet long and 300 pounds, and the largest, the blue whale, reaching a whopping 100 feet long and 200 tons.

Here's a quick breakdown of whale size diversity:

Smallest: Vaquita - 8.5ft, 300lbs

Medium: Humpback whale - 40-50ft, 70,000lbs

Largest: Blue whale - 80-100ft, 200 tons (equivalent to 3 school buses!)

To put these sizes in perspective, here are some comparisons:

Blue whale (largest): As long as 3 school buses or a Boeing 737 airplane!

Humpback whale (medium): As long as 2 double-decker buses!

Vaquita (smallest): About the size of a large dolphin or a refrigerator!

It's truly amazing how diverse whales are in size and how some of them reach such incredible proportions.
