Description

My friend and guest, Kelley Sewell, says her voice felt small in her younger years –yet when she wrote, she found solace and empowerment in the act of writing—her pen becoming a powerful tool to express what couldn’t always be spoken. Join me in an intimate conversation with Kelley, a skilled book editor and writer, as we unpack the journey of discovering our true voice through writing, speaking and other creative outlets - along with the liberation that comes when we break free from constraints that keep us silent.

It’s not just about putting words on a page, but about engaging in self-discovery and healing. We delve into the profound role writing plays in facilitating tough conversations, particularly around sensitive issues like domestic violence (a topic we cover in our second segment). By sharing our personal experiences, we want to inspire essential dialogues with others, using written words as both personal medicine and a bridge to connect, support, and advocate for change.

Our conversation also sheds light on speaking intentionally in critical situations, drawing from Kelley’s poignant story about her sister-in-law Corinne, who showed great bravery when she spoke up for herself. Through Corrine’s tragic story, we emphasize the necessity of trusting our deepest intuition and advocating for those who cannot speak for themselves.

This week’s episode is dedicated to a beautiful soul, Corinne Wiedel Sewell. Though her life was cut devastatingly short -  her voice and legacy continues in the hope that YOU find your voice, in its truest form.

NOTE TO OUR LISTENERS: We want you safe and well-cared for. The second segment of this episode speaks to sensitive matters of homicide and suicide. If you need help or resourcing, we encourage you to contact the National Domestic Violence Hotline at  800.799.SAFE (7233) or https://www.thehotline.org/. You are loved.
