Jim Cunningham checks in from Ljubljana, Slovenia after the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra had their first rehearsal. They play their first concert of the tour tonight with music of Mahler, Schulhoff and Schumann's Piano Concerto with Helene Grimaud. Manfred Honeck will conduct. Jim spoke with Principal Contrabassoon James Rodgers, Librarian Lisa Gedris and Katie Blakey, Coordinator of Orchestra Operations about the tour experience so far. They talk about their favorite lunch spots, coordinating with the hall, and what it is like to make sure a tour with an orchestra goes as smoothly as it can.
