GUEST: Kimothy Walker

Kimothy Walker is a public speaker, an international communications trainer and strategist, media consultant, multi-platform promotion enthusiast, radio show contributor, newspaper columnist and an award-winning journalist. She also drove over the Alps in an RV (accidently) but she doesn’t recommend it.

After a successful 25 year career with CTV News as a Newscast Producer and Anchor, Kimothy co-launched Ottawa Media Group (OMG) in 2014 and now as CEO of Tiger Lily Marketing works with more than 20 communications experts with executive level experience in media training, public relations, social media strategy, video production, website and brand creation (and much more) to assist local, national and international clients.

Her clients range from one of the world’s most successful video technology companies to Vietnam’s biggest broadcaster, as well as many not-for-profits, a cannabis company and investment firms, in addition to Canada’s Cold War Museum and many small to mid-sized organizations.

Kimothy possesses a rare blend of media expertise and business acumen. She was Ottawa’s Professional Business Woman of the Year (2013), received the United Way Community Builder Award on live television, and holds the Queen’s Jubilee Medal for service to her country. She has also been awarded the Ottawa Business Journal’s “Forty under 40”, Ontario Leading Women Award and the Y “Woman of Distinction”.

In 2016, Kimothy’s first independent documentary received an international award for its ground-breaking investigation into sexual violence in Canada. She has travelled extensively, including to remote areas of the Philippines with World Vision and to the top of Mt. Kilimanjaro with injured soldiers.

Kimothy’s contact list is vast and she has mentored dozens of journalists who now work across Canada. She continues to teach communications in Ottawa and Vietnam, is a fierce advocate for women and a strong supporter of local charities. Most importantly, she is Kyra’s Mom.
