This week 100m Specialist Marvin Bracy joins me on the show. Marvin is no stranger to pressure, at an early age, he excelled in track and field and football which immediately brought him national attention and high expectations. On the football field In 2010, the Orlando Sentinel ranked him as the No. 6 prospects from Central Florida in the class of 2012. In 2011 on the track Marvin clocked a 100m wind-assisted time of 10.05s that put him second in Florida high school history. Marvin attended Florida state university as a dual-sport athlete running track and playing football before he left after a year and turned pro and made track and field his sole priority. The journey hasn't been easy but his relentless will to persevere through adversity helped him get a silver medal in 2014 at the world indoor championships with a time of 6.48. Two years later in 2016, Marvin achieved a dream of his by making his first Olympic team and running a time of 9.98 to make the team. In this episode we discuss his upbringing, how he finds balance away from sport, transitioning from college to the pros as a 19 year old. The struggles he endured in 2020 and so much more. Marvin carries a lot on his shoulder's but the pressure early in his life prepared him to bear the weight he carries today.
