Arizona Basketball used to be known as Point Guard U under Lute Olson. And for obvious reasons. The names were dizzying: Kerr, Stoudamire, Bibby, Terry and Gardner. Not only did these players play a style that people liked to watch, they were part of basketball empire that by any measure was one of the top 5 programs in the nation over a 15 year period.
Sean Miller did some very good things at Arizona but he was never able to breakthrough and get to the Final 4. Additionally, there was next to no elite level point guard play, outside of TJ McConnell.
Tommy Lloyd was wildly successful his first year at Arizona by running a style much more similar to what Lute Olson ran. But the one question about Lloyd was could he recruit. Well, in the period of a few weeks he garnered commitments from five star guards Kylan Boswell and KJ Lewis. We explore the importance of the Boswell commitment.
