Description

Welcome back, dear listener, to episode three - on the ole podcast today we have the Wizard of Wisdom, Wayne Moss. Wayne is the Executive Director of the National Council of Youth Sports. He's known affectionately for his kindness and wisdom that he shares with everyone he speaks with, so we are so excited for you to get a taste of it.

In this episode, we dive deep into the future of tackle football and the subsequent rise of flag football, the importance of sport sampling for youth athletes, and keeping the end goal of youth sports in mind when dealing with young athletes and many, many, many "oooohs" and "ahhhhs" after Wayne drops knowledge on us.

(1:12) - Tackle vs Flag football
(16:53) - Wayne's journey to an internship with the Cleveland Browns was largely credited to a few phone calls to people in his network asking for advice
(21:39) - Another "Wayne-ism"
(24:06) - Wayne's tangible advice for parents, coaches, and volunteer - start with the end in mind, what is the ultimate goal of youth sports
(26:58) - Athlete injuries, burnout, and the importance of sport sampling in youth athletes
