Description

We begin tonight by looking back at a series that should be, for all intents and purposes, dead in the water.

It was one of the first two games to ever be announced from the upstart Platinum Games, founded by Hideki Kamiya, Atsushi Inaba and Shinji Mikami in the wake of Clover Studios’ closure from Capcom higher ups in late 2006.

And yet, helmed under the watchful eye of one of the finest action game directors going in the games industry in Kamiya – who after all brought us Devil May Cry – Bayonetta went on to become not only one of the best action games of 2010, but also one of the finest action games perhaps ever made.

And after talk of a rosy future for the series from publisher Sega, nothing. Until, like a phoenix, Bayonetta 2 rose out of the ashes from Nintendo for Wii U last year. And we are ever so grateful for its existence (I am anyways).

But to keep the focus on the original, Ria Jenkins talks at length about why Bayo 1 is her favourite game for the next hour.
