We begin with a confession: out of the three classic Sonic games, I’ve only really played a little bit of Sonic 1. Other than that, not many others. And in terms of modern games, I’ve only played a tiny bit of Sonic 4: Episode 1 (can’t mind if it’s the full game or the demo) that was boring and a tiny portion of Sonic Generation that I enjoyed.
For Five Out Of Ten editor-in-chief Alan Willliamson, Sonic 3 and Knuckles means so much to him that he’s willing to talk about it as his favourite game ever.
In the second episode this week, the penultimate episode of Season 1 of My Favourite Game, we go into detail on old & modern Sonic, how an honourable mention heralded the last great Sega game as well as “the death of childhood” and how I’ve wasted my life to date not playing the Metroid Prime trilogy. We’re also both Northern Irishmen, so it will get Irish at times (and I don’t mean that in the ‘We’re Irish, we swear a lot,’ department). You’ve been warned.
