The gig economy opens up new opportunities for work in ways almost unimaginable a decade ago. Now there's a debate over regulations on gig/independent contractor work with the Biden Administration pushing for more of these jobs to be pushed into traditional payroll jobs. That would change the costs for employers and possibly limit the flexibility of the workers.

In this discussion, R Street Institute resident senior fellow Jarrett Dieterle assesses the rules being proposed and the likely consequences those would bring.
