Description

A couple of years ago, Amanda Flaker's YouTube channel stumbled onto my radar. I was more than a little intrigued by this seemingly magical being, often sitting in the woods, talking to "empath entrepreneurs" about shadow work and "exiting the matrix."

These last few years, the way she conceptualizes the world and our role in it has become a constant encouragement and has helped me to hone and better articulate my own message of "shifting into shalom." Her words and her work have been especially meaningful to me these last few months as the world has turned upside down.

I reached out to her in May to see if she would be up for a  having a conversation on Throwing Light. I was so thrilled when she said yes! We talk about everything from what it means to be an empath to how it's not enough to be anti-racism, with a hefty dose of weird spiritual wisdom thrown in for good measure. Listening back to our discussion as I was editing this episode to publish was surreal. I have been playing with these ideas for several years now, but being able to talk about them with someone who is intimately familiar (and who has been one of my biggest inspirations on this Throwing Light journey) felt like waking up in a dream.

I say in the intro that I hope it all makes sense. I feel like this is the kind of episode that you need to listen to a couple of times, because there are layers of wisdom hidden in her words.

Maybe I'm hyping her up too much. And maybe you won't agree with everything she says. It's all okay. I hope this blesses you. It definitely blessed me. And for that I am grateful.

HONORABLE MENTIONS:

Thank you for listening! Throwing Light is for people who believe in the restoration and healing of the world and who aren't hung up on outdated dogma that seeks to dictate what that's supposed to look like. I'm interested in connecting with people who are actively working toward healing and restoration for themselves and the world. I am especially interested in connecting with helping professionals and people who spend their days caring for others. I promise that engaging with this podcast will help you on your healing journey and motivate you to delve even deeper into the beautiful work you are already doing in the world.
