In this last section of John’s first letter we will read the purpose statement of the letter. “I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may KNOW that you have eternal life.” This letter has intended to instill confidence in the believers of Jesus that they know they are in relationship with God. Jesus is God. When you believe that and submit to His authority by walking in the light and joyfullly keeping His commands, you know you have eternal life. John gives two more areas in our lives where we can be confident in the Lord – in our prayers and in our protection. This is experiencing Real Love.
