Matt. 15:21-28; Mark 9:14-22; Psalm 34:17 - What’s the hardest thing in your life right now? Relationship issues, family enmity, work stress, loneliness, injury, sickness, bitterness, ugliness, hopelessness? The Bible has so much to say about such everyday issues. This message will speak directly to how God responds to you in your suffering, and how He desires for you to respond to suffering.
If life feels like a constant journey of pain and strife, this message is for you. You will be encouraged at what God has for the weak and wandering, for the sufferers and sinners. You will find the hope there is in God, because He is power and He is love.
If you, or a friend are weighed down by life-dominating issues, this message will be for you and them. You need to have some real, biblical truth that helps you counsel them with compassion. This message will give you confidence that God IS a the answer to every pain.
Loneliness and shame, isolation and self-hatred, addictions and lusts, doubts and fears—suffering, suffering, suffering—these are the thorns of a world, our world, cursed by sin.
So what will we do? Running away doesn’t work, drowning it in busyness or entertainment doesn’t work, pretending like you don’t have a a problem doesn’t work.
What will you do with your pain? In our passage, the parents of the demoniac children bring their suffering to Jesus. You bring your raw pain and simply say, “Lord, Help Me!” Sometimes in life that’s all we can say, “Lord, help me.” And that is enough.
We come trusting that Jesus is able to help when no one and nothing else can. Jesus is more than willing to help us in our need. There is no need so great, no burden so heavy, no problem so difficult that there is not mercy and grace to help in time of need from the Lord Jesus christ. Come before him saying, “Lord, help me. Amen.”
