When I started looking at the Indians second round picks in the 90s the first one was Darrell Whitmore, which surprised me as I only knew him as the player the Indians lost in the expansion draft. A player I was happy they lost at the time as I did not know him, Years later one can't help but wonder what he could have been if given a chance to develop. Whitmore was one of the best safeties in UWV football history. He was the only player of color on his college team, and still managed to excel there even after a knee injury wiped out his freshman year. He would miss an entire year in the minors get jumped up to high A and find success before being taken in the Expansion draft and rushed to the majors.
