Isaiah 12:3 NIV

"With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation."

John 7:37b-38 NIV

"Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow within them."

1. Rest in Relationship
2. Not all water is the same
3. Only drink from Jesus

Happiness is the water of our soul.

Aristotle

"What is the highest of all goods pursued in action? As far as its name goes, most people virtually agree, since both the many and cultivated call it happiness."

We tend to "drink" anything that we think will make us happy.

Two types of spiritual water: Clean water or dirty water.

John 4:13-14 NIV

"Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring welling up to eternal life."

Sin is the lead of spiritual water,
And there's no acceptable amount of sin that we can ingest that will not kill our souls!

What exhausts us is trying to control what we cannot!

Jeremiah 2:13 NIV

"My people have committed two sins: They have forsaken me, the spring of living water, and have dug their own cisterns, broken cisterns that cannot hold water."

Clean water + Dirty water = Dirty Water

Jesus + Nothing = Clean Water

Thomas Aquinas

"It is impossible for any created good to constitute man's happiness. For happiness is the perfect good, which lulls the appetite altogether... it is evident that nothing can lull man's will, save the universal good. This is to be found, not in any[thing created], but in God alone..."

Grace is not an excuse to keep drinking dirty water!
