Description

You’re listening to “Won’t You Be My Elder?” an in-house podcast of Crawford Avenue Baptist Church. I’m John Ross, one of the elders and pastors here; our goal in this series is to help our fellow Crawford Avenue church members get to know the elders of the church a little better. In many of the conversations you have with elders, our goal is to check on you and to care for you through counsel, teaching, and prayer. We’re grateful that you also want to get to know more about us, and we hope that in making this long-form interview series available to you, you’ll come away with a sense of knowing the elders of the church a little better, and that you would be encouraged to pray for us.

My next guest is Gary Atwell: he’s one of our lay elders with a Masters of Divinity in Biblical Counseling, and he works as a contractor at Fort Gordon. Gary is married to Rachel and they’ve been married for 8 years. They have three children Carter (4), Haddon (2), and Merritt (8mos). In this episode you’ll learn how Gary came to know the Lord, how he and Rachel met, and how the Lord drew Him deeper into the Word and into the Church. We have a discussion about the relationship between sin and isolation, and towards the end we’ll talk about some of Gary’s favorite things, so stick around and learn more about Gary here on “Won’t You Be My Elder.”
